Each capital has its own world-famous shopping street. New Bond Street, Via Montenapoleone, Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré.
In Athens, this is Voukourestiou street!
At first glance, this is a narrow street in Kolonaki area, but it is there that you will find many Greek and international luxury brands.
Visitors to Voukourestiou Street will be dazzled by the treasures of LaLaounis, Venetia Vildiridis, Ioannis Patilis, Marco Bicego and Kassis jewelry stores.
And of course there are boutiques of world classics - Hermès, Dior, Cartier, Prada, Tod's and Louis Vuitton. Bulgari is also present - the brand was founded by Epirus Greek native Sotirios Bulgari in Italy at the end of the nineteenth century.
Since the early 1950s, Voukourestiou street, has been a favorite shopping destination for wealthy Athenians and foreign visitors, with a focus on rare European and American goods, as well as gold and jewelry.
The street got its name in honor of the Bucharest Peace Treaty, which put an end to the Second Balkan War in 1913.
Its difference from other similar ones is an impressive list of Greek designers, which we will cover in our next posts.
If a visit to the boutiques does not satisfy you, then nearby, at the crossroads of Voukourestiou and Panapestimiou streets, the imposing Attica department store is located in a neoclassical building, made to delight even the most insatiable shopper.
In the neighborhood there is undoubtedly a historical place - the cafe Athenee, which opened in August 1939.
Over the years this elegant place has hosted the international elite - Sophia Loren, Anthony Quinn, Valentino Garavani, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Marina Abramovich, Manos Hatzidakis and Melina Mercouri. It remains a place of timeless luxury to this day.
